After pickups we travel to Bideford for our stay at the Durrant House Hotel.
After breakfast we travel to Barnstaple with its historic Pannier market.

Alongside the Pannier Market, you’ll find Butchers’ Row, a terrace of ten shops under an iron roof, the name comes from the fact that it used to only house butchers, but these days you’ll find a whole host of interesting independent stores.

Next to the library, you’ll find the remains of Barnstaple Castle. This former motte and bailey castle was built in Norman times and is now known locally as Castle Green. The motte was built on top of what is believed to be a Saxon graveyard and was further landscaped during the Victorian era, climbers are welcome to make their way to the top which has benches offering lovely views across the Taw Valley.

In the afternoon we visit Ilrafcombe, with its picturesque harbour, dramatic clifftop scenery and stunning beaches.
We travel first to Tintagel, famous for its strong association with the legendary King Arthur. In Tintagel, you can explore the historic Castle, visit Merlin's Cave on the beach at low tide and see the Gallos king Arthur statue.

In the afternoon we visit the popular seaside town of Bude.
Summerleaze is the main town beach, which features a lovely sea pool if you fancy a dip without going into the waves. Visit the local castle for a glimpse into the town's history or browse local artwork at Moon Hare Studio and Teylu Glass, or visit the Poundstock Gildhouse for traditional craft and music.
Today we have a day at leisure in Bideford.

This historic harbour town is packed with independent shops, local produce and the picturesque quay, which draws visitors during every season.
There are regular boat trips from Bideford across the Lundy Island, the home of Devon’s puffin population as well as a host of other rare and protected species of bird. The charming harbour area is home to a number of organisations offering pleasure cruises around the harbour and you’re also close to the surrounding towns and villages such as Appledore, Instow and Clovelly, which are all charming and full of interesting heritage attractions.
We leave the hotel after breakfast and travel home.
